Who Needs Visa to enter Nepal?
All foreign nationals except Indian citizens require a visa to enter Nepal
1. Visa-on‑Arrival & E‑Visa
You can obtain a Tourist Visa on Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport or several land border crossings (e.g., Kerung, Birgunj, Kakarbhitta, Kodari)
Alternatively, complete the e‑visa application online up to 15 days before arrival—simply print the approval and present it upon arrival.

Free visa is applied to:
- Children under 10 (except US citizens)
- First-time SAARC visitors (excluding Afghanistan) up to 30 days
- NRN cardholders
- Chinese nationals up to 150 days
Note: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months with at least two blank pages.
3. Nepal Visa Extension & Overstay Policy:
- Tourist visa can be extended up to 150 days per calendar year
- Extension cost is $45 for 15 days, then $3/day
- Late-overstay fine: $5/day in addition to extension fee
4. Quick Checklist for Arriving in Kathmandu
- Fill visa form online (optional)
- Pay fee in US$ (30 /50 / 125) at bank counter.
- Submit form, receipt, passport, and photo to immigration.
- Receive visa stamp, then enter Nepal.
Special Notes
Holders of emergency or temporary passports, or from restricted countries (e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, Afghanistan, Syria), must apply in advance at a Nepalese Embassy or Consulate
Indians may enter with passport or valid voter ID—no visa is needed.
