After an early breakfast, embark on one of the most rewarding experiences in Bhutan—a hike to the legendary Taktsang Monastery (3120 m), popularly known as the Tiger's Nest Monastery. Perched dramatically on a sheer cliff approximately 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this iconic monastery is Bhutan's most sacred and recognizable landmark.

The hike takes approximately 4–5 hours (round trip) through beautiful pine forests adorned with colorful prayer flags. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the monastery clinging to the cliffside and the picturesque Paro Valley below. A hillside cafeteria provides an excellent viewpoint for photography and a short rest before continuing the ascent.

According to Buddhist tradition, Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) flew to this sacred site on the back of a flying tigress in the 8th century and meditated here for three months, introducing Buddhism to Bhutan. Since then, Tiger's Nest has become one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in the Himalayan Buddhist world, and it is considered a lifelong spiritual aspiration for every Bhutanese to visit the monastery at least once.

After returning from the hike and enjoying lunch, continue with a scenic drive to Drukgyel Dzong, the historic fortress built in 1649 to commemorate Bhutan's victory over Tibetan invaders. Although partially ruined by fire in the 20th century and now beautifully restored, the fortress remains an important symbol of Bhutanese history and resilience.

On clear days, the approach to Drukgyel Dzong offers magnificent views of Mount Jomolhari (7,326 m), Bhutan's most sacred mountain, often referred to as the "Mountain of the Goddess." The spectacular snow-capped peak provides a perfect backdrop for photography.

After a memorable day exploring Bhutan's most iconic cultural and spiritual landmarks, return to your hotel in Paro for a relaxing evening. Overnight at 3-star hotel in Paro (2,200 m).
