Today is the most important day of Yala Peak Climbing trip as you will prepare to summit Yala Peak.

After waking up early in the morning, usually around 2:00–3:00 AM, gear up with crampons, harness, helmet, ice axe, and headlamp. Today’s climb begins with walking gradually over rocky and moraine terrain, followed by steeper snow-covered slopes as you gain elevation.

Today’s climb is non-technical but requires good physical fitness, endurance, and mental focus, especially in the thin air at high altitude. Your climbing guide will fix ropes wherever necessary and lead you with the safest route. From the summit you are rewarded with the 360-degree views of snow-capped mountains like: Langtang Lirung, Shishapangma (Tibet), Dorje Lakpa, and Ganchenpo and so on.

After celebrating the summit and taking pictures, prepare to descend towards Base Camp, and again continue down to Kyanjin Gompa (3870 m) for a much-needed rest. Stay overnight at lodge.

The weather is stable, temperatures are moderate, and the trail through Langtang Valley comes alive with blooming rhododendrons, fresh greenery, and wildlife. The skies are mostly clear, offering excellent views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Shishapangma. This season provides a perfect balance of comfort and mountain beauty, making it one of the top choices for both trekkers and climbers.
  • Autumn (September–November): Autumn is the most popular and stable season for Yala Peak Climbing. After the monsoon rains, the skies clear up, providing crystal-clear mountain views and dry trails. With clean air, mild daytime temperatures, and golden autumn hues in the forests, this is an ideal time for both climbing and photography. The visibility of Himalayan ranges is at its best, ensuring an unforgettable climbing experience in the Langtang region.

Altitude Sickness (also called Acute Mountain Sickness / AMS) is a situation where body start to react due to low oxygen levels at high altitudes—usually above 3500 m. On the Langtang trek, elevations go up to 3870 m (Kyanjin Gompa), the last sleeping point, & the maximum hiking point is 4773 m (Kyanjin Ri) or 4980 m (Tserko Ri) or Yala Peak (5520 m)

Some Common Symptoms

Most trekkers feel the effects (if any) around Kyanjin Gompa (3870 m) or Kyanjin Ri (4773 m) or Tserko Ri (4980 m) or Yala Peak (5520 m), as oxygen levels drop significantly beyond these points.

  • If you feel symptoms, rest, don’t ascend further, and inform your guide or group.
  • Do not sleep at a higher altitude if symptoms persist.
