Mardi Himal Trek - 10 Days Detailed Itinerary

The itinerary can be customized according to your duration of holiday. Similarly, hotel can be upgraded or downgraded depending on your requirement.

Starts: Kathmandu
Ends: Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our correspondent who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. Once checked in, we will arrange a pre-trip meeting where we will brief in short about the trek, answer any queries you have and meet your trekking guide as well. After the short brief, you can relax and spend rest of the day at your leisure. Stay overnight at hotel.

Today we will prepare to begin our journey to Pokhara, beautiful city of lakes. In the morning, we will have breakfast at the hotel and then get ready to depart from Kathmandu. We will travel to Pokhara via tourist vehicle which takes about 8-9 hours (200 km). We can explore around lakeside of Pokhara city in the evening. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Note:
We have 3 options (flight / private vehicle / tourist bus) to travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara (200 km). It takes 25 minutes by flight, 7-8 hours by private vehicle and 8-9 hours by tourist bus to reach Pokhara.
If we take flight to Pokhara (extra cost) then we will have time to explore around Pokhara city and visit the important and must visit monuments.

Today you will have breakfast in the morning at hotel in Pokhara and then prepare to begin your journey towards Mardi Himal Trek. At first, you will drive from the hotel to Phedi which takes about 1.5 hours drive. Upon arrival in Phedi you will rest for a while and then prepre to trek towards Pitam Deurali. 

From Phedi, you will have to walk for about 5 hours via Dhampus village (1750 m) to reach Pitam Deurali. As you pass through Dhampus vilage, you can explore a scenic Gurung settlement from where you can see great views of Machapuchare and Annapurna. Again from Dhampus walking straight ascending trial along the rhododendron and oak forest you will reach Pitam Deurali, also known as Deurali. 

Pitam Deurali is a small ridge-top settlement. Stay overnight at lodge in Deurali.

This day you will have breakfast in the morning and begin to trek towards Low Camp which takes about 5-6 hours.

Today's route diverts off from the main Annapurna route and head easts towards Mardi Himal route. Walking some ascending trial with some occasional straight trails for about 4 hours you will reach Forest Camp. On the way to forest camp, you will walk through a quiet forest trail filled with oak, maple, rhododendron, and hemlock trees. You will have lunch in Forest camp and rest for a while.

From Forest Camp also known as Kokar you continue the journey to Low camp which takes about another 2 hours. As you approach towards Low Camp, you start to see back side of Mount Machhapuchre. Stay overnight at lodge in Low Camp

This day you will have breakfast in the morning and prepare to head towards the final desitnation of Mardi Himal Trekking. Today's walk towards High camp will be of about 6 hours some ascending, straight and uphill trials along the way. As you will hike almost 530 meter high altitude, walk slow, drink fluids and acclimatize well.

From Low Camp, walking for about 2.5 horus some straight ascending trial you reach Badal Danda located at an altitude of 2970 meters. If weather permits, you can see stunning views surrounded by clouds (meaning Badal in Nepali). After crossing Badal Danda, the forest thins out adn then you enter towards open alpine landscape and continuing for another 3.5 hours along the narrow ride uhill trial you reach High Camp. 

Upon reaching High Camp you can see magnificent views of Mount Machhapuchre (Fishtail), Annapurna South & Himchuli. This is the last sleeping point of the trek and here, you can also see magical sunsets on the himalayas.Stay overnight at lodge in High Camp.

Today is the most important day of Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek. This day you will wake up early in the morning (around 4-5 am), and prepare to hike towards Mardi Himal Base Camp which takes about 3 hours (5.3 km) of uphill trial. 

Mardi Himal Base Camp offers stunning, close-up views of Mount Machapuchare, Annapurna IAnnapurna South, Himchuli, Gangapurna and other himalayas. If you hike before sunrise then you can sese mesmerizing views of the sunrise in the mountains from the Base Camp.

After enjoying the view, return back to High Camp which takes about 1.5 hours descending through the same trial and have lunch here. Biding farewell to Mardi Himal and amazing Himalayan memories desnced towards Badal Danda. Badal Danda offers spectacular cloud-layered scenery — often called the “cloud hill.”Stay overnight at lodge in Badal Danda.

On this day, after breakfast, you prepare to bid farewell to Mardi Himal and descend back to the village of Sidhing via Low Camp which takes about 5-6 hours..

Today you walk through the same trial upto Low Camp which takes about 2 hours and and from here you will descend through the dense forest for about 3 hours to reach Sidhing. Sidhing village is a settlement of the Gurung people and here you can see the ancient villages of the Gurung people as well as the agriculture and lifestyle of the people. You will have lunch in Sidhing village and then return back to Pokhara by jeep. It takes around 2.5 to reach Pokhara. Stay overnight at the hotel / resort in Pokhara.

Pokhara is a beautiful city of lakes with amazing views of mountains. Today you have free day in Pokhara, you can visit the beautiful Fewa Lake, Tal Barahi temple located in between Fewa Lake, Gupteshore Cave, David Fall, Seti Gorge, Pokhara International Mountaineering Museum, Bindabasini Temple and Tibetan Refugee Camp while you are in Pokhara.

Or you can go for spa / sound bath / zip line / paragliding / hot air ballon ride / bungee jump and so on activities while you are in Pokhara. Stay overnight at the Hotel / Resort in Pokhara.

This day after having breakfast at the hotel, you will prepare to return back to Kathmandu. You will return back via tourist bus whcih takes about 8-9 hours. Stay overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.

Note: Again, you will have three options (flight / private vehicle / tourist bus) to return back to Kathmandu. You can choose the favorable option and return back to Kathmandu. It takes 25 minutes by flight, 7-8 hours by private vehicle and 9 hours by tourist bus to reach Kathmandu from Pokhara.

Enjoy your last day in Kathmandu before departure. At your scheduled departure time, our correspondent will pick you up from the hotel, transfer you to the airport, and bid you farewell with warm hearts.

What permits are required for Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek in Nepal?

Trekking to Nepal Mardi Himal Trek requires two main permits, as the route lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area. Here's what you’ll need:

  1. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): This is mandatory for all trekkers entering the Annapurna region. It Costs NPR 3,000 (approximately USD 25–30) for foreign nationals / for SAARC nationals - NPR 1,000
  2. Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) Card: Required for safety and record-keeping of trekkers in the region. It costs NPR 2,000 (approximately USD 17) for individual trekkers (non-SAARC)

Note: The TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card is no longer required for treks in the Mardi Himal Trek as per the latest rules. In such case, only ACAP is enough.

When is the Best Time For Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek In Nepal?

The best time to trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp is during Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). These seasons offer clear mountain views, pleasant weather, and safe trail conditions.
