Nar Phu Trek - A Hidden Himalayan Adventure in the Lost Valleys of Annapurna Region

Nepal Nar Phu Trek is a remote and culturally rich trek in the northeast part of the Annapurna region, often called “The Hidden Valley Trek”. The trek gives you the chance to explore untouched villages, beautiful mountains, old Buddhist monasteries, and quiet valleys that very few people have visited.

Nar Phu valley trek is known as lost valley as it remained isolated from the outside world for centuries. These remote valleys of Nar Phu are close to Tibet border and here you can observe deeply influenced Tibetan culture, language, and religious practices adopted from Tibetan Buddhism.

The lost valleys of Nar Phu remained restricted to outsiders, due to its sensitive border location and to preserve its cultural heritage; Government of Nepal opened Nar and Phu valleys to the trekkers since 2003 A.D only. Even today, the are is one of the restricted trekking regions, which requires Nar Phu Special Restricted Area Trekking Permit to enter in the region. There shall minimum be 2 people to enter the special area of Nar Phu starts from Koto and ends in Ngawal. The permit can only be issued by registered licenced Nepali company and trekkers must be accompanied by registered licenced guide.

Since its opening, the Nar Phu Valley Trek has become known as one of Nepal’s most off-the-beaten-path experiences, offering a rare glimpse into untouched Himalayan life. The trail passes through dramatic canyons, high plateaus, ancient monasteries like Tashi Lhakhang, and stone villages that have changed little over time. The construction of the Kang La Pass (5306 m) crossing into the Annapurna Circuit has added an adventurous and scenic element to the trek. This trek not only connects trekkers to pristine landscapes but also preserves and highlights the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Tibetan-descended communities who have lived here for generations.
