Lukla Flight Information

Flight from Ramechhap (March, April, May, October & November)

During the peak seasons of (Spring) March to May and October to November (Autumn), due to the high volume of tourists and maximum flights to Lukla, the Government of Nepal normally decides to operate flights from Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu to avoid air traffic. If flying from Ramechhap, we will have to wake up at 1 or 2 AM and take a 5–6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Ramechhap in a private or shared vehicle. From Ramechhap, we will take a 20-minute flight to Lukla.

Flight from Kathmandu (December - September)

During the off-peak months from December to September (i.e Winter / Monsoon), due to fewer tourists, flights to Lukla operate directly from Kathmandu. We have to wake up at about 5 or 6 AM and then meet guide at the hotel and drive to TIA airport and take 35-minute flights to Lukla.

Everest View Trek FAQs

It is a popular trekking option where you trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp (EBC) on foot, and then take a helicopter ride back to Lukla or Kathmandu, saving time and avoiding the often challenging return trek or flight delays. This is the perfect trek for the ones who have less travel days in Nepal and wants to trek to Everest.

Typically, the trek to Everest Base Camp takes 14 days including acclimatization. The helicopter return saves 2 to 3 days on the descent, allowing for a quicker overall trip.

Yes, helicopter flights in the Everest region are operated by experienced pilots using well-maintained aircraft. However, flights are weather-dependent and can be delayed or canceled due to poor visibility or strong winds.

It is best to book your helicopter ride in advance through a trusted trekking agency, especially during peak trekking seasons. Last-minute bookings are possible but not guaranteed due to limited availability and weather.

If weather conditions prevent the helicopter from flying, you may need to spend an extra night or more at the landing site and wait for conditions to improve. It’s important to have flexible plans and communicate closely with your trekking agency.

Trekking durations vary, but typically you will walk 5 to 7 hours per day. This includes breaks for meals and acclimatization stops. Some days may involve longer or shorter hikes depending on the itinerary.

During Everest Base Camp trekking with Helicopter retuen, you’ll find a variety of simple meals served at teahouses and lodges. The staple is dal bhat (rice, lentil soup, and vegetable curry), which is filling and perfect for trekking. Other common options include noodles, fried rice, momos (dumplings), pasta, pancakes, soups, Tibetan bread, and potatoes prepared in different styles. Breakfast typically includes items like porridge, toast, eggs, and tea or coffee.
Vegetarian meals are widely available, and some places can accommodate vegan or gluten-free diets upon request.

While meat may be on the menu, it’s best avoided at higher altitudes since it’s often carried up without refrigeration. Always stick to fresh-cooked, hot meals and boiled or purified water for safety.

Yes, helicopters have strict weight limits (usually around 10-15 kg per person). You’ll need to pack light and possibly leave heavier luggage in Lukla or Kathmandu.

Lodges along the trekking route are basic lodges and tea houses. They provide simple accommodation with twin beds, communal dining areas, and shared bathrooms. Attached rooms with private bathrooms are available at some lodges for an additional cost.

Wi-Fi is available in some lodges along the Everest Base Camp trek, but it may be slow and unreliable due to remote locations and weather conditions. Expect to pay for Wi-Fi access, and be prepared for intermittent connectivity.
